Celebrating the return of the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival, Painted Axe focused its artists efforts on “renewal.” With that, Painted Axe selected a butterfly to represent renewal, rebirth and the promise of a better future on the 2009 Epiphone Les Paul. Not just any butterfly, but a Gulf Fritillary – Louisiana’s state butterfly – and the only butterfly apparently indigenous to the Bayou State.

The Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival returns to Lafayette Square Park (602 St. Charles Ave.) in New Orleans for its 15th edition on October 14-16, 2022. 

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is pleased to announce the 2022-2023 Community Partnership Grant cycle. Since 1979, the Jazz & Heritage Foundation has invested proceeds from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell directly into the community with grants to fund projects that support the foundation’s mission. More than $12 million has been awarded in Community Partnership Grants since the program began.

Don Marshall, Executive Director of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, was honored with the Celeste Seymour Judell Arts Award on the Thursday, June 23, 2022 edition of STEPPIN’ OUT, WYES-TV’s long-running arts and entertainment discussion program hosted by Peggy Scott Laborde.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is excited to announce the Jazz & Heritage Summer Concert Series 2022 featuring local musicians at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, 1225 N. Rampart Street.

Music Rising, the charitable organization created after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 has awarded grant relief to 1,474 musicians and industry workers who struggled financially due to the pandemic and after Hurricane Ida. The funds were administered by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation and were distributed directly to recipients.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation presents the 2022 Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival on June 11 & 12, 2022 in Louis Armstrong Park, 701 N. Rampart Street. Admission to the park is free and open to the public. 

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will present a sneak preview of a long-awaited documentary about a great unsung contributor to African-American heritage, culture and community: New Orleans gospel icon Raymond Myles.
