Jazz & Heritage Discretionary Fund Guidelines

The Jazz & Heritage Discretionary Fund provides limited support for funeral-related expenses for individuals who have made meaningful contributions to Louisiana’s music and cultural traditions.

This fund is reserved for individuals who were active participants in one of the following cultural communities:

• Black Masking Indians
• Members of Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs
• Louisiana musicians

Discretionary Grants are limited and are not guaranteed. Funding is based on eligibility, demonstrated connection to the qualifying cultural community, and the availability of funds.

Funeral Expense Support

Discretionary Grants may provide limited assistance toward funeral or mortuary expenses.

• Grant awards are limited to a maximum of $2,500.
• Only family members of the deceased may apply.
• An invoice from the funeral home or mortuary must be submitted with the application.
