Jazz & Heritage Vocal Workshops

As one of the Foundation’s most popular programs, the Jazz & Heritage Vocal Workshops began in 2017 as an initiative to increase free music education to children across the Greater New Orleans Area. In partnership with the New Orleans Recreational Development Centers, Vocal Workshop classes are held at NORD sites four times a week in New Orleans East, the Lower Ninth Ward, Gentilly and Algiers.

Classes are facilitated by acclaimed performer and educator, Tonya Boyd-Cannon, who has created a dynamic curriculum that teaches the fundamentals of vocal technique, exposes students to the diversity of vocal repertoire, and supports the development of a healthy self-concept.
