Jazz & Heritage Archive
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Archive identifies, collects, preserves, and protects the records of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, including its assets and programs.
The Jazz & Heritage Archive is excited to announce that applications are now open for both the Jazz Fest Volunteer Photographer Program and the Fellowship Research Grant. The Volunteer Photographer Program offers photography enthusiasts a unique opportunity to capture the energy of the iconic Jazz Fest, allowing participants to document unforgettable moments and contribute to the festival’s storied visual legacy.
Meanwhile, the Fellowship Research Grant invites scholars and researchers to delve into the cultural depths of Louisiana, offering financial support for projects that explore and preserve the heritage of this landscape.
Both programs aim to engage individuals who are passionate about Louisiana’s cultural heritage, offering them the chance to play an active role in celebrating and safeguarding its traditions. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply and join a community dedicated to cultural preservation and storytelling. Learn more about each program below.
Mission: The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation Archive is an educational service that identifies, collects, preserves, and protects materials of cultural and historical significance to New Orleans and Louisiana as well as the records of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation and its assets and programs. These materials are used to support the mission of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation to promote, preserve, perpetuate, and encourage the music, culture, and heritage of communities in Louisiana.
The Archive’s collections include over 50 years of historic materials from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival — including the Allison Miner Music Heritage Stage and African, Folk, and Food Heritage stages. These sessions provide valuable information about Louisiana’s culture and its impact on the world.
The Archive also houses collections of photos, posters, film footage, audio recordings, signs, business records, and other artifacts from events dating to the beginning of the Foundation in 1970.
