Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will pause upcoming presentations of the Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival.
Since 2008, the Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival has celebrated the traditions, communities, artists, and culture interwoven with Louisiana’s identity. This year, honoring those traditions also means thoughtfully considering how we carry forward our support for them.
Over the coming months, the Foundation will listen, reflect, and reimagine what comes next while further engaging with Louisiana’s artists, culture bearers, community members, and partners as we explore new ideas for celebrating these important cultural traditions.
Our goal during this pause is not only to examine and bring back exactly what’s been done before. We want to be more intentional and community-driven, creating experiences that more fully recognize the people, places, histories, and traditions central to the cultures we are committed to honoring.
In the meantime, we invite you to join us for the 20th annual Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival, October 9–11 at Lafayette Square, and the Congo Square Rhythms Festival, April 3 – 4, 2027, in Armstrong Park.
There’s much more music, culture, and community ahead, and we look forward to celebrating it with you!
About
The Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival is a vibrant celebration held annually in New Orleans, showcasing the culinary and cultural heritage of the Tremé neighborhood. Renowned for its diverse gumbo offerings, the festival presents a feast for the senses, with local chefs dishing out their unique interpretations of this beloved culinary staple. Alongside the food, festival-goers can enjoy live music performances reflecting Tremé’s deep-rooted musical legacy, from jazz and blues to brass bands. The festival also features local artisans, crafts, and activities for the little fest-goers. It’s a lively atmosphere that honors the community’s history and spirit. It’s a must-attend event for anyone looking to experience the authentic flavors and rhythms of New Orleans.
ADA Accessibility
For guests who need ADA accommodations, the festival provides several options:
Wheelchair drop-off areas are located on Rampart Street (at the St. Ann Street Gate) and in the parking lot near the Mahalia Jackson Theatre of the Performing Arts (enter via the Basin Street Gate).
Wheelchair-accessible toilets are kept locked for your comfort. To obtain the lock combination, please visit any of the information booths at the park entrances. Staff at the official Merchandise Booth can also assist.
All of the food booths will have counter heights of no more than 32 inches. There will be an area reserved only for wheelchairs near the sound booth in front of the stage.

Keep The Festival Safe and Free: No Outside Food, Beverages, or Pets
Like all of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation Community Festivals, the Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival is completely free and open to the public – part of the community investment made by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. Donations, however, are gratefully accepted. If you would like to support the Foundation and help keep this event free, please make the tax-deductible contribution of your choice here.
PLEASE: Except for those with small children or dietary restrictions, please do not bring outside food or beverages to the event – no coolers are permitted.
Although Armstrong Park is usually open to pets, for the safety and comfort of the festival’s large audience, the Jazz & Heritage Foundation asks that guests respect their neighbors and leave companion animals at home (except for service animals, of course).
