2023 Jazz & Heritage Gala Talent Announcement

NEW ORLEANS (March 21, 2023) – The Jazz & Heritage Gala is the official kick off celebration to the 2023 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell!

The star-studded Gala is Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Generations Hall in New Orleans. The patron party begins at 6pm, followed by the Gala from 7pm to 10pm.

Celebrate the night with New Orleans’ finest musicians at Generations Hall. Talent on the Gala Ballroom Stage presented by the Gia Maione Prima Foundation includes Irma Thomas, Deacon John Moore, Erica Falls, Kermit Ruffins with The New Orleans All Stars, Nick Daniels III, Chris Adkins, Jamison Ross, David Torkanowsky and The Horn Stars, John Boutte featuring Herman Lebeaux, Oscar Rossignoli, Caleb Torkarska and Nobumasa Osaki. The Gala Heritage Stage presented by Hancock Whitney features Firm Roots with Herlin Riley, Derek Douget, Peter Harris, Dwight Fitch, Jr. and Ashlin Parker.

The Gala benefits the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s signature education program, the Don “Moose” Jamison Heritage School of Music, which provides free music education to nearly 300 Louisiana students. This year’s Gala will feature the rich musical heritage of our vibrant city with performances by some of New Orleans’ favorite artists.

Every Gala ticket includes a Gala Pass – a seven-day pass to Jazz Fest that is transferable with unlimited re-entry.

ABOUT THE HERITAGE SCHOOL OF MUSIC

The Don “Moose” Jamison Heritage School of Music proudly provides free-of-charge lessons taught by the finest musicians and educators the city has to offer, reaching more than 300 school-aged students with dynamic music instruction and opportunity. It is the Foundation’s longest standing educational program and has expanded to include a Beginners program, the Vocal workshops that take place at NORD centers across the GNO area, and Audio Production Workshops. The school holds classes three days a week at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz and Heritage Center. The state-of-the-art facility has several classrooms, a recording space, and a performance hall.
