Music Rising Guitar Auction

NEW ORLEANS (December 9, 2021) —While venues are reopening and performances are on the rise, Louisiana’s music community is still struggling to recoup financial losses from 2020 and 2021. In response to the economic impact of COVID-19 on the music community, Music Rising has partnered with the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation to create the Jazz & Music Rising Relief Fund.

The live and online auction offers a rare and significant collection of guitars and other music memorabilia from U2’s The Edge, producer Bob Ezrin and a host of their famous friends who are among some of the world’s most prominent musicians. The auction takes Music Rising back to its roots and will help restore the livelihood of musicians of New Orleans and surrounding regions who have suffered through the pandemic.

Paul McCartney, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Lenny Kravitz, Chris Martin, Alice Cooper, Slash, Alex Lifeson, Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam, Steve Miller, Vince Gill, Ronnie Wood, Dave Matthews, and so many others have personally donated instruments to the cause. Fans and collectors will also have the opportunity to hear about their instruments from the artists themselves via the new interactive platform ohyay.

Music Rising will be hosting the Guitar Icons: A Musical Instrument Auction to benefit Music Rising on December 11, 2021. Proceeds from the auction will go to our efforts in helping Louisiana’s musicians and music industry gig workers restore their livelihood. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is the administrative partner.

The Jazz & Music Rising Relief Fund is a statewide relief fund to support Louisiana’s music community who have lost income amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
