Who We Are:
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc. is the nonprofit organization that owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. Established in 1970 alongside the first New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the Foundation was created with a purpose that extended beyond producing an annual festival. Its mission is to promote, preserve, perpetuate and encourage the music, culture and heritage of Louisiana communities through festivals, programs and other cultural, educational, civic and
economic activities.
The Foundation reinvests proceeds from Jazz Fest, along with grants, donations, sponsorships and other funds raised throughout the year, into programs that support Louisiana culture and time people who create and sustain it. Through education, economic development, cultural enrichment, preservation and community access, the Foundation serves students, musicians, artists, culture bearers, educators, nonprofit organizations, creative entrepreneurs, researchers and communities throughout Louisiana

Education initiatives include the Don “Moose” Jamison Heritage School of Music, Tom Dent Congo Square Lectures, the Class Got Brass school band competition, youth audio and vocal workshops, and more.
