Preserve the Legacy of Jazz Fest this Giving Tuesday!

Support the Preservation of Rare Jazz Fest Footage from the Michael Murphy Collection. The Archive of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation has more than 3,000 audio and video tapes; photography, and other materials in the Michael Murphy Collection dating from 1989-2009. This Collection is culturally significant with reach beyond the Gulf Coast and extends internationally. The Collection documents not just the music but also the street life, crafts, and food that make Louisiana an international destination.

Among these materials are over 30 tapes of Jimmy Buffett performing over the decades. Jimmy Buffett loved New Orleans and the feeling was mutual. Nowhere was that clearer than at one of Buffett’s legendary Jazz Fest performances. These were sets that Jimmy himself said were some of the best he ever played.

The Archive of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is asking for support in preserving the legacy of “the Patron Saint of Jazz Fest” and others this giving season.
