Students ages 8-18 are invited to apply in the following categories: brass, guitar, bass, drums, voice, strings, and woodwinds.

Auditions for the fall session will be on Saturday, August 27, 2022 between 10am-1pm. Each audition will last approximately 10 minutes.

Vocal Workshops are lead by acclaimed singer Tonya Boyd-Cannon as part of a partnership between the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation and the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORD) to offer music education programs around the city. These workshops meet weekly from January to April and are open by audition to students ages 8 to 18.

The classes utilize a curriculum that Boyd-Cannon has developed called ARTcademics. Students receive instruction in: posture; breath control and breathing techniques; self-awareness and vocal register variations; ear-training; scales; and vocal repertoire.

We are now accepting applications for the Vocal Workshop program. Students will be able to attend on either Mondays at St. Bernard Recreation Center or Thursdays at Behrman Memorial Park.

Class times are 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Auditions for the fall vocal workshops will be on Saturday, September 3, 2022 between 10am-1pm. Each audition will last approximately 10 minutes.
