A Panel Discussion and Concert in Celebration of George Wein’s Centennial.
This event is a co-production of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, Newport Festivals Foundation and the Joyce & George Wein Foundation.
Join us for an engaging panel discussion on the vital role of music festivals and their responsibility to music education and nurturing a greater appreciation for the arts. The evening will begin with a discussion featuring panelists who will share their insights into George Wein’s profound influence on the music industry and music education. Explore the connection between music education and festivals, highlighting how these events celebrate artistry and also function as essential platforms for music learning and outreach. We’ll also dive into the powerful connection between festivals and music education initiatives, emphasizing the significance of accessibility, mentorship, and cultural preservation. Following the panel will be a live concert performance.
