What We Do
As the nonprofit owner of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival — Jazz Fest — the Jazz & Heritage Foundation is active all year long with programs in the areas of education, economic development and cultural events.
In addition, the Foundation owns and operates several high-value assets in our cultural community. These include:
Radio station WWOZ 90.7 FM — 24 hours a day, WWOZ broadcasts the musical soul of New Orleans to the world over the air and online. Visit www.wwoz.org.
The Jazz & Heritage Archive — Open to researchers and scholars of New Orleans culture, the Archive is the repository for a vast trove of information from Jazz Fest and the Foundation's programs — including photos, videos, oral histories, artifacts and documents.Visit www.jazzandheritagearchive.org.
The Jazz & Heritage Center — In 2008, the Foundation purchased the building adjacent to our longtime offices on Rampart Street. The Gothic-style, very historic property — formerly a funeral home that was the scene of many send-offs for famous jazz musicians — is now the Jazz & Heritage Center. We're about to launch a major capital campaign to transform the building into a state-of-the-art education and community center. More Information.
The Foundation Gala — A star?studded soiree that each year kicks off the Jazz Fest season, the Gala is a festive fund-raiser for the foundation's year-round programs. It's a special opportunity for private and corporate citizens support the Foundation's efforts to promote the culture of our region. Gala tickets include special passes good for admission to all seven days of Jazz Fest. More Information.
