Celebrate the musical culture of New Orleans' Treme neighborhood at the fourth annual Treme Creole Gumbo Festival on Saturday, Dec. 10 - another free festival presented by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation.

The Rebirth Brass Band will cap a day of great New Orleans music at the Jazz & Heritage Center. Admission is free.

Forrmed at Clark Senior High School in the heart of the Treme neighborhood, the Rebirth has been traveling the world for more than 20 years as ambassadors of the classic Crescent City parade sound.

Exuberant jazz and gospel trombonist Glen David Andrews also will perform, as will the Treme Brass Band and another favorite son of the Treme, drummer and bandleader Shannon Powell.

And as a special treat, we'll present a once-in-a-lifetime revue featuring musicians and other local characters who have appeared in the HBO series "Treme." Performers include John Boutte, Tom McDermott, Matt Perrine, Davis Rogan and other special guests.

Come ready to do your holiday shopping. The festival includes our sixth annual Jazz & Heritage Holiday Bazaar - with a slew of vendors offering wearable art, items for the home and other hand-made specialties. It's also the only place outside the Fair Grounds where you can get official Jazz Fest t-shirts and other merchandise. For the complete list of arts vendors participating in the Holiday Bazaar, see here.

And come hungry, because we'll have a selection of great gumbos made by several of the city's best restaurants. For the complete list of food vendors and menu items, see here.

While you're in the neighborhood, enjoy a special jazz performance by the great singer Leah Chase at St. Augustine Church at 4 p.m., part of Christmas New Orleans Style presented by French Quarter Festivals, Inc. And be sure to check out other Treme attractions, including the New Orleans African American Museum and the Backstreet Cultural Museum.

It's all part of Treme 200, the year-long celebration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Treme neighborhood.
