Sync Up is back! After a summer break, Sync Up - the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation's series of free educational and networking workshops for the entertainment industry - returns with a slate of events designed for independent and aspiring artists.

For the past 10 years the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation has presented the Sync Up conference – a business development initiative for the music industry – during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. Since 2018, Sync Up has become a year-round music industry workshop series. In monthly workshops, Sync-Up presents industry professionals in sharp discussions aimed to educate and inspire. Sync Up workshops are appropriate for students, emerging talents, and established artists.

Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, 1225 N. Rampart Street. Admission is free.

All events are streamed live via WWOZ, both on their web site and their Facebook page. Videos are archived for on-demand viewing.

The 2019-2020 Sync Up season begins on September 18th, 2019, with "Make Your Music the Next Hollywood Sound." Details for this workshop follow.

Wednesday, September 18, 2019; 5:30 p.m.

Presenters will teach local artists how to clear samples for use, register copyrighted music, and how to get their works into film, commercials and TV productions. If you plan to attend, please click here to RSVP (link).

The workshop features a discussion with John Boutté, local jazz icon, whose “Treme Song” became the theme for the acclaimed HBO series Treme. In addition, film, music and law experts will discuss the nuances of registering music for licensing or use.

Check back here as a complete Sync Up calendar will be available soon.

The Sync Up Music and Sync Up Cinema entertainment industry workshops are programs of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, the nonprofit that owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. The Foundation uses the proceeds from Jazz Fest, and other raised funds, for year-round programs in education, economic development and cultural enrichment. For more on what we do, please see
