Twelve Louisiana arts-related businesses were accepted into the inaugural class of the Catapult Fund – a training and funding program for entrepreneurs in the arts.

More than 90 applications were submitted from around the state by business owners seeking admission to our customized, six-week training course. A group of 15 arts and business leaders reviewed the applications, ultimately selecting 12 to participate in the training program.

Those selected were:

Elysian Post & Production, LLC (New Orleans)
Freddi W. Evans  (New Orleans)

The training classes began on Sept. 22, 2014, and concluded on Nov. 10, 2014. During that time, the business owners wrote high-quality business plans, suitable for presenting to banks or other funders for financing and investments.

Of the 12 entrepreneurs who were accepted into the program, 11 completed it successfully. Those who completed the program received grant awards totaling $50,000, provided by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. All of the participants also received $1,000 each to match funds that they accumulated in a Capital One business savings account.

The Catapult Fund is a program of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation in partnership with Capital One bank, the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, the Ashe Cultural Arts Center and the Louisiana Small Business Development Center.
