Music Licensing Workshop in Alexandria

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation and the Tipitiana’s Foundation will partner for a workshop on licensing music to film and television on Friday, June 27, at the Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op in Alexandria, LA.

The 4 p.m. workshop is geared toward musicians who are interested in licensing their music to film, TV, commercials and videogames. It will cover basic elements of copyright, music publishing and licensing music.

The workshop will also feature discussion of the Jazz & Heritage Talent Exchange (talent.jazzandheritage.org), a new resource to help Louisiana musicians promote their music to the film and TV industry.

The workshop will be conducted by Scott Aiges, director of programs, marketing and communications for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. Aiges has served as director of music business development in the New Orleans mayor's office, as an artist manager and booking agent and as a music business journalist. He taught the course "Intro to the Music Business" at TulaneUniversity from 2002 to 2005.
